Using Office 365 Home to add 60 world minutes to your Skype account every month. Office 365 Home includes 60 minutes per month of Skype calls to phones in more than 40 countries and regions. From here you will be able to select Add-Ins on the left side, look for Skype Meeting Add-In for Microsoft Office 2016 under Active Application Add-Ins.
Microsoft has announced that Skype for Business will be retired in 2021 and will be replaced with Microsoft Teams for its chat and conferencing capabilities. Please visit our Microsoft Teams service description for additional information. HUIT is currently developing a plan to transition from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams. If you are a Skype for Business user, you will be contacted with additional information by Spring of 2020.

What you can do with Skype for Business:
- Chat (IM), audio or video connect with Harvard colleagues, Skype with colleagues inside and outside of Harvard including colleagues using the consumer version of Skype.
- Hold and schedule online meetings where you can share your desktop or a program, add attachments, and create shared notes.
- Connect to Skype for Business from anywhere! Use your desktop, the Outlook Web App (OWA) or mobile devices to chat and join meetings.
What you should know:
- In the Outlook Web App (OWA), you will see the Skype for Business Online icon in the upper right
- Enter your primary email address to log in.
- Your username and password will be cached after first use / login

One of the primary tasks of any Skype for Business Online administrator is managing policies. Although you can accomplish some of these tasks in the Microsoft 365 admin center, other tasks are much quicker and easier in Office 365 PowerShell.
Before you start
Download and install the Skype for Business Online Connector module, and then restart your computer if prompted.
Connect using a Skype for Business Online administrator account name and password
- Open a Windows PowerShell command prompt and run the following commands:
- In the Windows PowerShell Credential Request dialog box, type your Skype for Business Online administrator account name and password, and then click OK.
Connect using a Skype for Business Online administrator account with multifactor authentication
- Open a Windows PowerShell command prompt and run the following commands:
- When prompted by the New-CsOnlineSession command, enter your Skype for Business Online administrator account name.
- In the Sign in to your account dialog box, type your Skype for Business Online administrator password, and then click Sign in.
- Follow the instructions in the Sign in to your account dialog box to provide additional authentication information, such as a verification code, and then click Verify.
